Joe Chapuis

When Joe graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in psychology 1991, he didn't know how to turn on a computer. As the Internet started to stir Joe decided to jump on the band wagon so in 1995 he bought a computer and taught himself how to build websites. Joe still had a day job and didn't know he could make money online until he stumbled upon concept of per pay lead. The "light went on" when he got his first cheque for $13.42 from an ad on his website for a free issue of a magazine. So until 2003 Joe built websites built websites with affiliate ads and developed other products - notably a traffic generation system called Traffic Dynamo in 2000. Traffic Dynamo was an automated system that built a web page per keyword - and by 2003 some users were spewing out 100's of garbage pages that clogged the search engines. Regretting that he ever shared Traffic Dynamo Joe shut up shop completely for a year, feeling unfulfilled and burnt out with pay for lead and affiliate selling.

Also the birth of his second son had stirred the question in Joe's mind of wanted he would want his son to remember him for. In searching for the answer, he saw video coming and started dabbling - forcing himself to learn. Joe continued experimenting and learning, and started a video blog (no longer running) in 2005. Email enquiries began to flood Joe's inbox wanting to know how to do video online. At about the same time, the answer to what Joe should do gelled in the middle of a phone conversation with Ken McCarthy. Joe started WebVideoZone.coma website that answered peoples questions about online video, AND provided a Big 3 tools for making video easy: a video uploader and converter, a hosting service using servers optimized for video, and a customizable online video player.

In September 2006 Joe attracted SitebuildIt's Ken Evoyto his list (in 2000 Joe had been amongst the first 200 people to join Ken's SiteBuildIt). Ken was so impressed with Joe's system that he worked with Joe to stage a hugely successful video contest to talk about SiteBuildIt amongst his subscribers (with a first prize of $10,000). Joe also produced the tour video for Ken's SiteBuildIt that resulted in a 30% increase in sales, and he and Ken continue to work on projects together. Joe was now a member of the 2007 The System faculty. He lives in rural Connecticut with his wife and two sons.
